Please note on Sunday, January 5, 2025, President Biden signed the Social Security Fairness Act. The new act eliminated the windfall elimination provisions in government pension offset which effects public retires who are also eligible for Social Security benefits.
In essence, the individuals’ Social Security benefits will no longer be reduced due to the fact that they are receiving a public pension. The law was backdated to January of 2024.
